Medical Volunteers Needed for National Synchronized Skating Championships in Calgary - Feb 21-23

The 2020 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships is being held in Calgary, Alberta from February 21-23, 2020 at WinSport. This exciting event will welcome nearly 40 teams and over 800 skaters from across the country. Teams will compete for national titles in the senior, junior, open, intermediate and novice categories.

Medical Volunteers are required for rinkside coverage of practice and competition rinks as well as the medical treatment room providing care (initial assessment and minor treatment) for acute issues that may arise during the course of the event as well as medical issues that may occur on ice. Care is for accredited event participants only and we are not responsible for spectator medical care.

Physicians (Sport Medicine, Emergency, Orthopedics, Family Physicians), Physiotherapists (SPC Certificate and up needed for rinkside coverage), Certified Athletic Therapists, Paramedics (BLS/ALS), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and Nurses (preferably ER/ICU) with sport experience and prior sport event coverage are sought. All medical volunteers must have CPR and first responder training and certification. Medical Volunteers will be scheduled for multiple shifts (approx. 6 hrs. each) during the 3-day event – mornings, afternoons and evenings. Volunteers will be provided with a Uniform Jacket, meal tickets during shifts and all medical / treatment supplies will be provided by Skate Canada.
