The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia (UBC), invites applications for the full-time position of an Assistant Professor of Teaching (Tenure Track). This position will primarily be based at the Point Grey Campus.

The Department of Physical Therapy’s key coursework activity relates to the training of students to become practicing Physical Therapists. The Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) program is rigorous and scholarly while delivering a high standard of instruction and creative opportunities for learning, which provides students with a strong foundation to support practice of the profession. The three core streams of the program are musculoskeletal, neuro, and cardio-vascular theory and practice. Clinical Education is a key element of the MPT program. The MPT program is distributed to northern BC, in part to address Physical Therapy retention and recruitment issues in northern and rural areas. The Department also provides leadership in Physical Therapy research and the translation of novel research outcomes into best practices in this field of health care.

Reporting to the Head of the UBC Department of Physical Therapy, the successful candidate will be actively engaged in teaching within the MPT Program and hold a leadership role as Associate Head, Clinical Education, in the MPT program (including the distributed sites). The incumbent will develop and provide leadership for innovative clinical education programming and provide support for clinical faculty related to their clinical teaching role. This position involves working with students, faculty, clinicians, academics across the University and clinical sectors, and BC professional organizations (e.g., Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia and the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia).

Responsibilities will include, but are not be restricted to, the following:
- Teaching and course coordination, which may include overseeing course curriculum, providing course materials, and conducting course evaluation.
- Providing content and expertise to inform program curriculum development and evaluation within the appointee’s area of practice.

The successful candidate will have the following:
- A post-graduate degree, preferably a post-graduate Master of Physical Therapy or in a related discipline (clinical or research);
- Previous clinical teaching experience with Physical Therapy or other health professional students;
- Previous teaching experience, preferably within a university Physical Therapy program;
- Demonstrated leadership skills in either a clinical or educational setting;
- A minimum of five years of clinical practice experience as a Physical Therapist with experience in a relevant core physical therapy area; and
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and strong technology enhanced learning and computer skills.
